The Roman Catholic parish church of Abstetten is raised in the middle of the town of Abstetten in the market town of Sieghartskirchen in the Tulln district in Lower Austria . The church consecrated to St. Martin belongs to the deanery Tulln in the diocese of St. Pölten . The church building is a listed building .

history

In 1131 a parish was mentioned. The church was badly damaged in an earthquake in 1590 and rebuilt in 1595/1596. In 1645 the church was named as the Vicariate of Tulln. In 1901 the church was elevated to a parish church. In 1968 there was a restoration, the tower was partly removed and rebuilt and the roof and windows were renewed.

architecture

The church is raised in the center of the place with a cemetery surrounded by an embankment wall. The Gothic church, which has been converted to baroque style, has a mighty tower that can be seen from afar.

Furnishing

The high altar from the middle of the 18th century with a three-zone structure with inclined columns has a richly profiled, projecting cornice and a top with a triangular gable. The missing altarpiece in a rococo halo frame with putti was replaced with a copy of the picture Mariahilf after Lukas Cranach.

The organ was built by Franz Strommer (1885).
