The Roman Catholic parish church Alberndorf im Pulkautal is in the municipality of Alberndorf im Pulkautal in the Hollabrunn district in Lower Austria . The parish church of St. Laurentius - incorporated into Melk Abbey - belongs to the Retz-Pulkautal dean's office in the vicariate Unter dem Manhartsberg of the Archdiocese of Vienna . Until September 1, 2016, she was part of the dean's office in Haugsdorf . The church is a listed building .

history

The parish was established in 1783 with the Melk Abbey. The church was built in 1784/1786.

architecture

The church has a façade tower on the west side between side cushions with vase attachments and a retracted, semicircular closed choir on the east side . The western front is structured by corner pilasters and plaster frames. A cartridge with the Melker coat of arms can be seen in the apex of the flat arched portal. There is a low sacristy on the south side and a two-story gallery extension to the north.

The interior is flat and has fluted corners. The choir has a square vault resting on double pilasters . The arched west gallery rises above pillars and has a masonry parapet with plaster structure.

Furnishing

The high altar was made at the end of the 18th century. It is a free-standing, marbled altarpiece with a portrait of St. Laurentius by Hermann Bosch. The classical pulpit is made of wood. It is decorated with a relief of a brazen serpent . Further fittings include an organ from around 1860/1870, a baptismal font from the end of the 18th century, a sandstone figure of Maria Immaculata from the 18th century, pictures of the Stations of the Cross from the second half of the 19th century and remarkable figural stained glass from the beginning of the 20th century Century.
