history
The previous building, built in 1480 in the Gothic style , collapsed in 1701 in a landslide. Even before the Gothic church there was a castle chapel consecrated to St. Leonhard in the lost and not yet found Castle Plumenau. This was mentioned in a document in the 13th century.
The church was built between 1702 and 1703 by the Graz court architect Bartolomäus Ebner.
The church was renovated in 1987. In 2001 a new organ was built by the Anton Škrabl workshop from Rogaška Slatina (Slovenia).
The church in Blumau was originally a branch of the Bad Waltersdorf parish . In 1785 it was raised to an independent parish by Josef II . From 1788 to 1993 she was looked after by 16 pastors. From 1993 to 1995 it was looked after by a provisional priest and from 1995 to 2001 by a parish moderator.
Since 2001 it has been looked after by a pastor who also looks after the Fürstenfeld parish . In addition, a nun has been looking after the parish as a pastoral worker since September 1, 1993, and since September 1, 2000, another nun has been looking after Bad Blumau as a parish assistant.
