The Roman Catholic parish church of Brand bei Loschberg stands on a hill in the north of the village of Brand bei Loschberg in the market town of Waldhausen in the Zwettl district in Lower Austria . The parish church consecrated to St. George belongs to the Deanery Zwettl of the diocese of St. Pölten . The church is a listed building .

history

The Gothic church from the 14th century was rebuilt in 1671 and given a baroque style. In 1966 a restoration and expansion took place.

architecture

The church, which is surrounded by a cemetery wall, has a rectangular nave - gothic at its core - with baroque flat and arched windows. The narrower lower Gothic choir shows Gothic pointed arch windows in the east and Baroque flat arch windows in the south. The south tower - gothic at its core - has a bell storey from the 18th century with round-arched sound windows and a pointed helmet from the 19th century. The sacristy in the north is Gothic. A vestibule is built in the south. The church was expanded on the west side in 1966 with an annex and a staircase.

The two-bay nave has a barrel vault with stitch caps, and a music gallery was built in to the west. The triumphal arch is ogival. The choir is arched ridge with pointed gussets. The square sacristy with a barrel vault has a late Gothic shoulder arch portal. The tower ground floor has a groin vault.

The stained glass windows from 1912 show the Heart of Mary and the Heart of Jesus.

Furnishing

The high altar was built in 1915. The side altar is neo-Gothic. The pulpit from 1803 is classical. The baroque figures Florian, Georg and Sebastian are from the first half of the 18th century. The Stations of the Cross are from the beginning of the 19th century.

The organ is from 1846. David Vestnitzer names a bell 1630. Franciscus Pfistermeister names a bell 1767.
