The Roman Catholic parish church Eichberg is located in Eichberg in the municipality Rohrbach an der Lafnitz in Styria . The parish church of St. John the Baptist belongs to the Hartberg deanery in the Graz-Seckau diocese . The church and the defensive wall surrounding it are under monument protection .

history

At first there was a castle chapel next to Aichberg Castle , which was consecrated in 1368. The current church was built in the 17th century and only raised to a parish church in 1941.

architecture

A tapered chancel with a straight end connects to the nave with a needle cap barrel. The organ gallery is made of wood. The west tower was presented to the facade. At the driveway to the church there is a Marian column from the first half of the 17th century, which, according to the inscription , was donated by the Steinpeiß family .

Furnishing

The high altar dates from the first half of the 17th century and is decorated with fittings . There are several tombstones of the Steinpeiß family from 1650 to 1675.
