The parish church Freischling stands a little higher in the village of Freischling in the market town of Schönberg am Kamp in the Krems-Land district in Lower Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to St. Lawrence of Rome belongs to the deanery Horn in the diocese of St. Pölten . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

A church was mentioned in documents in 1282. In the 14th century a vicariate existed from 1544 a branch church of the parish Gars am Kamp. In 1783 the church was elevated to a parish church. In 1792/1793 the church was rebuilt according to the plans of the builder Adam Reininger. 1951/1952 was a restoration.

architecture

The Josephinische Saalbau has a tower facade. The pilaster-structured west facade has a tower top between curved gable slopes. The tower wears an onion helmet. There is a sacristy annex to the retracted choir.

The interior of the church shows a long house with pilaster strips under a flat ceiling. The west gallery is arched on pillars. The retracted choir has a sacristy with an oratory to the north.

Furnishing

The high altar Lamb of God with a volute structure from 1792 shows the altarpiece Glory of St. Laurentius by Johann Wallensberger (1794).

The organ was built by Franz Capek (1905). Mathias Prininger names a bell in 1712.
