Scotch Bonnet Cape

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Scotch Bonnet Cape is a headland in the south of the Caribbean island of St. Kitts in the island state of St. Kitts and Nevis .

geography

The peninsula is a small volcanic cone in front of it, which extends from the "knob" of the "pan handle" of Saint George Basseterre to the south into the strait The Narrows . The headland is separated from the mainland by wetlands and rises up to approx. 40  m . The headland is constricted by the bays Cockleshell Bay (in the west) and Mosquito Bay (in the east).

The area is probably named after the common sea snail species "Scotch bonnet" ( Semicassis granulata , German "Schottenhaube").
