The Idolsberg parish church, built as a castle church, stands in the village of Idolsberg in the market town of Krumau am Kamp in the Krems-Land district in Lower Austria . The St. Lawrence of Rome dedicated Roman Catholic Today's parish church is part of the Office of the Dean Horn in the diocese of St. Poelten . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

The church as a manorial foundation in the 13th century was initially a branch of the parish Altpölla . A parish was mentioned in a document in 1332. The parish ceased to exist after 1600 and was rebuilt in 1763. The church was renovated in the 1970s and 1990s.

architecture

The east side of the church is structurally connected to Idolsberg Castle.

The nave shows itself with two-lane, post-Gothic tracery windows between massive buttresses. On the north side there is a fragmented late Renaissance portal with side pilasters on pedestals around 1600. On the south side there is a sacristy extension. To the east of the choir rounding is The baroque three-storey tower added in 1786 to the east of the choir rounding has clock gables and an onion helmet.

The interior of the church shows a two-bay nave under a groin vault on renewed consoles, along the ridges are plaster bands with tendrils and pearl rod decoration around 1600. The choir with a triangular closure has a vault with plaster bands arranged in a star shape, in the caps there are stuccoed rosettes and angels' heads .

The neo-Gothic stained glass of the windows from 1906 shows the birth of Christ, the Annunciation, the Visitation, Peter and Paul.

Furnishing

The late Gothic figure of Mary and Child was created around 1500. The hunched baptismal font is from the first half of the 17th century.

The neo-Gothic furnishings with pulpit, console statues, west gallery and altar are from 1892. The altar is a carved retable with pennies and bears the statues of Augustine, Lorenz and Joseph.

The organ was built by Franz Capek (1897).
