history

From 1908 to 1912 a chapel was built as a neo-Gothic choir with a turret. In 1930 a long house with an arched roof was added. In 1948 the church became a parish exposition from Pöchlarn . In 1953 a gallery was built. The church was elevated to a parish church in 1957. From 1972 to 1973 the parish church was demolished and rebuilt according to the plans of the architect Paul Pfaffenbichler . In 1982 the roof was renewed.

architecture

The church building is a broad exposed concrete structure over a complex polygonal floor plan and a free-standing bell tower in the northeast. The two-part architecture of the church building as a sacred space and a multi-purpose space and the execution in exposed concrete was described as brutalist neo-expressionism . The main front with the entrance area to the multipurpose room has a lower vestibule. To the east in a set back area is another vestibule to the sacred space. The sacred space has extremely restrained windowing with irregularly spaced high slit hatches and the main light is guided through the dome. The originally sharp-edged, stepped blockiness of the building was weakened by the redesign of the roof with somewhat softer, rounded shapes. The three-story bell tower over a rectangular floor plan has an open ground floor and rectangular windows.

The polygonal church interior can be divided with a folding curtain. The sacred space has a wooden ceiling and a gallery in the northeast. The light is guided through windows in the drum zone of the octagonal dome .

Furnishing

There is a baroque crucifix. There is a statue of the Madonna from 1911. The lecture cross and the canvas painting Anna Selbdritt are from the 18th century. The baptismal font was created by the sculptor Hans Scheibner (1948). The sculptor Josef Diethör (1979) created the crossway reliefs as cast bronze .
