architecture

The late Romanesque early Gothic pillar basilica with an elevated late Gothic choir has a Baroque south tower and baroque extensions.

Church exterior

The basilica nave with a heavily elevated central nave has round arcade windows with three- and four-pass tracery from the beginning of the 14th century, the side aisles have arched windows. The baroque west facade from the middle of the 18th century was presented to the basilica, the central part, structured with pilaster strips and cornices, has a high volute top with a gable top between low, wide sloping gable slopes. The portal porch shows corner pilasters, cornice and gable top, in the gable is the niche figure of St. Laurentius from the middle of the 18th century. In the north of the nave is the addition of the Sacred Heart Chapel from 1727 and the addition of the segment-arched plague chapel from 1777.

The raised two-bay choir with a five-eighth end with a circumferential plinth and sill cornice shows double-stepped buttresses from the mid-14th century, the two-lane tracery windows were heavily renewed in 1879. In the east there is access to the crypt with a staircase from the construction time of the choir, the access was exposed in 1982/1983.

Furnishing

The high altar as a late Gothic shrine around 1500 has a new altar, a new tabernacle and new wings. The late Gothic parts were acquired from Ambras Castle in 1954 . The former altar comes as the so-called Pöggstall Altar from the castle chapel of Pöggstall Castle . The wings show four oil paintings with scenes from the life of St. Laurentius by Helmut Kies 1964.

The altar of the plague chapel shows the altar sheet St. Rochus, Rosalia and Sebastian as intercessors by Martin Johann Schmidt 1777.

The organ was built by the Mauracher brothers in 1936.
