The parish church of St. Michael am Bruckbach stands on a slightly elevated plateau in the Kirchweiler St. Michael am Bruckbach in the market town of St. Peter in der Au in the Amstetten district in Lower Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to Michael belongs to the dean's office in Haag in the diocese of St. Pölten . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

Originally probably part of the bishopric of Bamberg . In a document, the church was transferred to the Seitenstetten Abbey in 1142 as a branch of the Wolfsbach parish church . Around 1300 parish, then taken over again by the monastery, the parish was rebuilt in 1746. 1971/1972 was a restoration.

architecture

The late Gothic hall church with a retracted choir and a western tower is surrounded by a walled cemetery.

The exterior of the church is plastered with visible stonemasons, the western front is clad with panels. The choir shows neo-Gothic tracery windows from the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries between the stepped buttresses. The late Gothic nave under a steep half-hipped roof has a neo-Gothic barbed rectangular portal from the second half of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. In the north there is a small gallery window with a grid around 1508. In the south-east there is a hook-shaped baroque extension from the second half of the 17th century, with changes from the 19th and 20th centuries, with an irregular axis sequence, in the south-east Ground floor with transverse pass window, on the upper floor with pointed arched window with wrought iron grille from the second quarter of the 19th century. In the south-west there is a Gothic arched porch portal from the first half of the 19th century, behind which is the main entrance. The Gothic choir closes with a triangle. The massive, undivided tower from the 14th century shows hatches and neo-Gothic sound windows above the tower clock, it wears an octagonal pointed helmet from 1878.

Furnishing

The altars with remarkable rich early baroque column retables with numerous mask putti were made by the carpenter Wendelin Perg.

The organ was built by the Upper Austrian Orgelbauanstalt St. Florian in 1988. Sebastian Lecherer mentions a bell in 1714.
