Parish church Steyr-Resthof
The parish church Steyr-Resthof is in the municipality of Steyr in Upper Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to St. Francis of Assisi belongs to the deanery of Steyr in the diocese of Linz .
history
In 1977 the parish Gleink acquired a piece of land and in 1979 the Diocese of Linz approved a building program for a pastoral care center in Resthof. In the first construction phase, a pastoral care center was built in 1982/1983 and consecrated by Bishop Maximilian Aichern in December 1983 . After a consolidation of the parish, there were active considerations from 1991 for the construction of a new church. In 1994, discussions with the architect Treml led to a restricted architectural competition with four participants, which the architects Gabriele Riepl and Peter Riepl won. After adjustments, the draft was accepted in 1996 and the groundbreaking ceremony took place in March 2000 and the foundation stone was laid on May 7, 2000. The church was consecrated on May 20, 2001 by Bishop Maximilian Aichern. The Church was taken over by the Order of the Oblates of the Immaculate Virgin Mary .
architecture
Several cuboid structures result in a sculptural character of the church building. The building was broken up through glass surfaces, which allows insights and views. The right-angled hall is closed at an angle and is open to the east to a water basin and to the south to a meditation garden. The weekday chapel in the south-eastern part of the building ends with a glass cuboid as a light sculpture.
Furnishing
The raised altar pedestal was clad with slate and carries a brick-red colored monolith-like altar. The simple ambo is made of metal. The birch pews are U-shaped towards the altar.
At the end of the access area is the font.
