Parish church Völkendorf
The Roman Catholic parish church Völkendorf in the district of the same name in Villach is consecrated to the Most Holy Trinity . It was not until 1973 that the districts of Völkendorf, Möltschach and Judendorf were separated from the St. Martin parish and their own parish was set up. The branch churches of St. Johann and Warmbad also belong to this parish.
The church was built in 1967 according to plans by Walter Pinzer with a trapezoidal floor plan under a protruding gable roof . In the west there is a choir tower with an open bell storey.
The uniform interior tapers and rises towards the altar. The walls are structured using different materials such as natural stone walls, white walls, exposed concrete and wood. The dome-like vault rests on net-like laminated wood beams . The church interior is illuminated through lateral concrete network windows and a skylight behind the altar. The altar mosaic was created by Franz Schneeweiß.
