Parish administrator

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Parish administrator is the legally correct designation of (late-appointed) pastors who are in the service of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria (ELKB) after a shortened theological training .

In the period from 1966 to 1985, the Bavarian regional church maintained its own parish administration seminar, first at the mission and diaspora seminar of the Neuendettelsau Mission , then on the campus of the Augustana University in Neuendettelsau . Around 90 people were trained in these years.

For the first time, starting in the winter semester of 1999, a late caller was able to start training as a parish administrator, now in the form of a concentrated theology course at the Augustana University. The revised Parish Administrators Act of the ELKB of 2002 modified the previous concept so that the training is now carried out by the university as part of a study seminar to which a limited number of applicants are admitted each year after a corresponding selection process.

In addition to personal and ecclesiastical aptitude, admission requirements are at least a middle school leaving certificate as well as proof of completed vocational training and probation in this profession. A four-year study path leads people from a non -ecclesiastical professional field to the entrance exam for parish administrators and the subsequent preparatory service, a study year with propaedeutic preliminary enables people from theological and church professions to enter the preparatory service (teaching vicariate under the responsibility of the Nuremberg Preachers' Seminar ). This includes the employment test for parish administrators ("2nd exam").

Parish administrators have the same duties as pastors with a full theology degree, but receive lower remuneration. A further examination ("colloquium") after a fixed period of professional qualification can be used to achieve legal and financial equality with pastors.

Parish administrators of the previous and current training organize themselves in the convention of parish administrators in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria .
