Health and social assistant , health and nursing assistant , nursing assistant or specialist for nursing assistant is a health profession . Germany

The training of health and care assistance or to become a specialist for nursing assistant replaced since 1 August 2007, the former nursing assistant training ( health and nursing assistants , elderly care assistants , educational method nursing assistants and pediatric nursing assistants). It is not nationally standardized, but regulated by state law and therefore differently.

The two- to three-year training is carried out at various nursing and health care facilities, for example in clinics, nursing homes or nursing services. Theoretical knowledge is imparted at internal, external or external vocational or nursing schools. No training allowance is paid during this training. The training ends with a state examination, which entitles you to use the respective job title. Additional qualifications can be acquired with an additional year of training.

Admission requirements are generally a minimum age of 17 years as well as the secondary school leaving certificate or vocational qualification, vocational qualification, first general school qualification, successful completion of secondary school (exceptions are possible). As with all nursing professions, they must be suitable for health.

Training opportunities

With the secondary school certificate and after successfully completing the training, the job-related secondary school leaving certificate can be obtained. Further training in the nursing professions is possible. In elderly care, the duration of training for care assistants is usually shortened by one year. Building on this, further qualification options and training courses can be completed; That means, there is always the possibility of becoming a specialist, residential area manager, nursing service manager or home manager.

The training is regulated by law and lasts one year full-time, but can also be part-time if the duration is longer; either at a school for health and nursing or in nursing assistance courses. It can be combined with other training, for example with training in a social care profession in work for the elderly, the disabled and the family. In this case, the training lasts two years full-time or three years part-time.

Admission to training takes place through a selection process. The minimum age is 17 years, the 9th grade must have been successfully completed. In the case of initial vocational training, only the two-year training as a nursing assistant can be completed.

Switzerland

education

Nursing assistance training has been regulated by the Swiss Red Cross since 1993 . Since 2012, instead of training as a nursing assistant under the old law, a two-year basic vocational training course has led to a federal professional certificate for assistant health and social affairs (AGS EBA). This has expanded the competencies for the job.

The prerequisite for the training is the completion of the lower secondary level, school level with basic requirements and a completed apprenticeship contract, social skills and practical talent. The duration of the training is two years, four days of which are practical and one day of school lessons per week. The national umbrella OdA OdASanté and Savoirsocial are responsible for professional development and quality assurance .
