The Pflegedienstspange was an award of the German Red Cross in the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which 1966 in three stages

  • bronze
  • silver
  • gold
    • Gold with a level I tag for 1000 hours of care
    • Gold with pendant level II for 3000 care hours and
    • Gold with a level III tag for 6000 hours of care

was donated. They were awarded according to the hours of care performed. The bronze, silver-plated or gold-plated clasp is 54.5 mm wide and shows a round medallion with the Red Geneva Cross on a grained background in the middle. The cross is enclosed by a ring with the inscription: GERMAN ROTES KREUZ (above) GDR (below). At the two ends of clasp is on the left the inscription: CARE and on the left SERVICES to read. Until 1970, however, it still bore the inscription: DRK-KRANKENPFLEGE . The pendants for the nursing service clasp with pendants were attached to the central medallion by means of a hanger and show two crossed laurel branches at the intersection of which a small square can be seen, in which the level I , II or III can be read in Roman numerals .
