Care aids

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The use of care aids can facilitate the care of a person in need of care or reduce their symptoms. Persons who are in need of care in accordance with Section 40 of Book XI of the Social Code (SGB XI) or persons who need to prevent an impending disability or compensate for an existing disability are entitled to financial support for the costs of care aids . In part, the benefits depend on whether the beneficiary is cared for by a private person in the home environment (also with partial support from professional care services ) or in an inpatient facility.

If the necessary care aids cannot be provided by health insurance or other competent service providers due to illness or disability , the costs will be covered in whole or in part by the care insurance . The prerequisite for this is a valid medical prescription only for benefits according to SGB V (GKV). For benefits according to SGB XI (long-term care insurance), the claimant must apply to the long-term care insurance directly; a doctor's prescription is not required, the application must be checked by the long-term care insurance company or its MDK. From 2016/2017, nursing care aids at the expense of the nursing care fund can also be initiated by the agents of the nursing care fund / MDK directly from the nursing care fund without the need for a medical prescription. Depending on the cost unit, there are different requirements regarding the approved providers and the product selection. If a certain product is required, it may have to be purchased on your own account.
