History and description

Gustav Franck, a descendant of Johann Heinrich Franck , already owned a villa at Pflugfelder Straße 5 and had it built when he was already planning his new town house. Albert Bauder was commissioned to design and build this villa on the corner of Pflugfelder Strasse and Brenzstrasse. The building was erected in 1889/90. The brick building with ashlar structure and half-timbered parts in the Swiss style served as a residential building. The rear building with the address Brenzstraße 2 enclosed an inner courtyard as a three-wing complex. It contained stables, a coach house, a laundry room and quarters for servants. A three-part lattice gate was installed between the main building and the auxiliary building.
