Phantasos ( Greek Φάντασος; "fantasy, imagination") is a deity of Greek mythology . He is one of the three gods of dreams .

Phantasos is a son of the god of sleep , Hypnos , whose twin brother is Thanatos , the god of death . His brothers are Morpheus ("figure") and Phobetor ("terror"). There are also 1000 other brothers, all of them sons of Hypnos. The brothers are also known as Oneiroi ("dreams").

He complements his brothers by transforming himself into earth, stone, water etc. in dreams, i. H. in everything that has no soul. Morpheus, on the other hand, imitates humans and Phobetor imitates animals. While the nameless Oneiroi send their dreams to the people, Morpheus, Phobetor and Phantasos take over this task with kings and tribal princes.
