Pharaoh's Curse

Pharaoh's Curse is a 1983 computer game designed by Steve Coleman.

Overview

For many centuries, the Pharaoh's treasures lay hidden in his tomb until the player stumbled upon the entrance.

In Pharaoh's Curse you have to collect a treasure from each of them in four by four screens. You get an extra life for each treasure, and an overview line shows which treasures are still missing from the grave. Two opponents appear regularly, the pharaoh and the mummy, who then pursue the player. The player should shoot them faster than they can do with the player. There are also visible traps scattered around the screen, which are triggered at regular intervals or with a time delay when walking over them. Otherwise there are keys and magical barriers that can be opened with them, although you cannot take a key with you through an already opened barrier. So you always have to look for a key near the barrier. Finally, there's a flying creature that picks you up when touched, carries you through the screens, and drops you somewhere.

When you have collected all the treasures, you still have to escape to the start screen. Then you get a level password and the game starts again with a higher level of difficulty.

The screens are switched when switching.
