Pharnabazos I.

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pharnabazos († before 430 BC), son of Artabazos from the Pharnacids family , was probably a governor ( satrap ) in the Persian empire of the Achaemenids .

In fact, nothing is known about Pharnabazos, in the traditions he is only mentioned together with his father, but never standing alone. If at all, it can only be between 455 and 430 BC. As governor of Phrygia with the Daskyleion residence . But it is also possible that his son Pharnakes was able to follow his grandfather, Artabazos, directly.

Besides Pharnakas, Pharnabazos had a second son, Susamithres, who is considered to be the murderer of Alcibiades .
