Phil Trim

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Theophilus Earl Trim , called Phil (born January 5, 1940 in Trinidad and Tobago ) is a Spanish musician of African American descent.

He had his first publication in 1962 as a member of the Trinidad Steel Band , on whose concert tours he also came to Spain. There he became the lead singer of the Spanish band Pop Tops in the late 1960s , which had its biggest hit in 1971 with the song Mamy Blue sung by Phil Trim (number 1 in Germany and also - for 10 weeks - in Switzerland). The recording combined the expressive voice of Phil Trim with a gospel choir .

After further international successes, including the two top 30 hits Suzanne Suzanne and Hideaway in Germany, the Pop Tops disbanded in the mid-1970s. Phil Trim was then successful in Spain with several solo albums.
