Lviv Philharmonic

Lviv Philharmonic is the name for the large state concert hall and state orchestra in Lviv .

The Lviv Philharmonic is located in an Art Nouveau building that was built in 1907 for the Musical Society of Galicia .

The building officially functioned as a philharmonic hall since 1933. The Soviet authorities established the Lviv Region Radio Symphony Orchestra by decree in December 1939. The first leaders were Isaak Pain and Mykola Kolessa . After the Second World War, the orchestra was re-established.

The Lviv Philharmonic Society's Symphony Orchestra received an academic award in 2006. The main activity of the Lviv Philharmonic is to organize symphonic, chamber, jazz and popular concerts, as well as festivals, and to organize literary and art activities, meetings and exhibitions.
