Life

Philip Carr-Gomm was born in London. He grew up in Notting Hill Gate and attended Westminster School. His father was Francis Eardley Carr-Gomm, the brother of Richard Carr-Gomms. At the age of 11 he met his first spiritual teacher, Ross Nichols , then head of the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids. He studied the history of the Druids and Celtic mythology with Nichols and joined the order at the age of 18. In 1988, a few years after Nichol's death in 1975, Carr-Gomm took over the management of OBOD and designed the three-year correspondence course, which met with a strong response and made OBOD the world's largest druid organization, which includes people from a wide variety of religious communities. According to the historian Professor Ronald Hutton, the correspondence course is now considered the most important document of British spirituality of the late twentieth century. In addition to leading the order, Carr-Gomm leads workshops and works as an author.

Carr-Gomm graduated with a degree in psychology from University College London . His training as a psychotherapist for adults took place at the Institute for Psychosynthesis following his studies in psychology CG Jung. In addition, he studied plant therapy for children with Dr. Rachel Pinney . After studying at the London Montessori Center , he founded the Lewes Montessori School .

Carr-Gomm's books have been published by Harper & Collins, Random House, Simon & Schuster, St. Martin's Press, Watkins, Thoth, Granta and the order's own publishing house Oak Tree Press and have been translated into numerous languages.
