Philip Meissner

Philip Meissner is a German economist and university lecturer for strategy, author and decision-making expert. Since 2018 he has held the chair for strategic management and decision-making at ESCP Europe in Berlin . In addition to making decisions, Meissner deals with the influence and effects of digital transformation in companies and on society. He has headed the European Center for Digital Competitiveness since 2020.

Career

Meissner began his professional career in the banking sector and completed an MBA at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management (HHL), received his doctorate there and, since 2009, has helped to set up the Center for Strategy and Scenario Planning , a joint research center run by Roland Berger and HHL. He completed his habilitation at the Philipps University of Marburg under Torsten Wulf .

Projects and expertise

In addition to his research on decision-making processes and the digital transformation in companies, which has appeared in Harvard Business manager and McKinsey Quarterly , among others , Meissner advises companies and governments on strategic decisions and questions about new technologies.

In 2019 he published the book “Deciding is Easy”, in which he presents a seven-step process for strategic decisions.

As an expert on decisions and Brexit , Meissner gave interviews for radio programs and media such as Deutschlandfunk , SWR , WDR , Business Insider and Bild .
