Philip Morris USA is the tobacco subsidiary of the Altria Group . Among other things, it sells the Marlboro brand in the USA . Philip Morris USA continues to be a subsidiary of Altria, while Philip Morris International was spun off from Altria in 2008.

Philip Morris USA was spun off from Philip Morris International in 2008, which led to a reduction in production due to the lack of export markets. Philip Morris plans to close the Concord site by 2010 and relocate it to the main Richmond facility .

In 2003 Philip Morris Companies Inc. changed its name to Altria Group, Inc., but retained 100% of Philip Morris USA. The name change was interpreted as a termination of the association with tobacco products. In 2003, Philip Morris USA relocated from New York City to Richmond, Virginia.
