Georg Schrötter

Georg Schrötter (* 1650 in Grüssau , Duchy of Schweidnitz , † 1717 probably there) was a German sculptor .

Life

Schrötter was the son of a Grüssau carpenter. After his talent was recognized by the Cistercian Abbot Bernhard Rosa from Grüssau , he received training as a sculptor in Prague at the expense of the monastery. He was then appointed head of the Grüssau art workshop, which not only worked for the Grüssau monastery, but also carried out work for other clients.

    • Loreto Chapel: statue of the "Madonna of Loreto" for the previous chapel (1676)
    • Joseph's Church: pulpit with bas-reliefs from the life of St. Joseph and God the Father figure in the coronation ( attributed )
    • Maria Magdalena Chapel: life-size metal figure of Christ in the burial chamber (1678)

    • Neuen , Filialkirche St. Laurentius: Architectural main altar with figures of the Saints Joseph, Anna, Katharina and Barbara ( after 1728 transferred from the Grüssau monastery church ); carved side altars (1686)
    • Ullersdorf , Vierzehnheiligen church: main altar (transferred from the Grüssau monastery church in 1728 )
    • Albendorf , branch church of the Birth of Mary: main altar with figures of Saints Augustine, Gregor, Antonius and Franz (created in 1670 for the monastery church in Grüssau, later moved here)
    • Schömberg : Pulpit for the parish church of St. Joseph (now Holy Family ) (1686)
  • Striegau : four large religious orders on wood, six small angels and resurrection image for the tabernacle of the high altar
  • Heinrichau Monastery : Architectural main altar ( with paintings by Michael Willmann ) (1681–1684)
  • Kamenz Abbey, Abbey Church: Carved altar "Fourteen Helpers" (1702)
