Philipp Weltzien

Philipp Weltzien (* 1987 in Suhl ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). He has been a member of the Thuringian state parliament since 2019 .

After graduating from high school in 2006, Weltzien completed an apprenticeship as an IT specialist for system integration, which he completed in 2011. From 2011 to 2014 he was employed as a technician for office communication, from 2014 to 2019 as a computer scientist.

Weltzien has been a council member of the city of Suhl since 2009 and has been chairman of the city council group Die Linke there since 2013. In the state elections in Thuringia in 2019 , he won the direct mandate in the constituency of Suhl - Schmalkalden-Meiningen IV .
