Philippe Bianconi

Philippe Bianconi (born March 27, 1960 in Nice ) is a French pianist.

Philippe Bianconi was trained by Simone Delbert-Février at the Conservatory of his hometown Nice , then continued his studies in Paris with Gaby Casadesus and in Freiburg with Vitaly Margulis . At 17 he won first prize in the “Jeunesses Musicales” competition in Belgrade; this was followed by first prize at the Cleveland International Piano Competition and the silver medal at the Van Cliburn Competition (1985). Since then, Bianconi, described by the Washington Post as a pianist "whose playing is always close to the soul of the music and who fills the room with poetry and life", has performed as a soloist, with orchestra and chamber musician around the world . He also gives master classes, especially in the USA.

His repertoire ranges from Bach to contemporary composers, but as a soloist he is particularly interested in the German romantic piano literature by Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, as well as Chopin and the French so-called impressionists Debussy and Ravel.
