Tulipa cretica is a species of tulip ( Tulipa ) in the lily family (Liliaceae).

Tulipa cretica is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 7 to 12 centimeters. This geophyte forms onions as persistent organs. The more or less flat leaves with a glossy top are up to 15 millimeters wide.

There are usually one to two, rarely three flowers . The 15 to 32 millimeter bracts are white, pink or purple colored and greenish on the outside and dull yellow on the inside. The anthers are 1.5 to 3 millimeters in size.

The flowering period extends from March to May.

Occurrence

Tulipa cretica is endemic to Crete . The species grows in the Phrygana , on rocks and on scree slopes at altitudes from 0 to 2100 meters.
