NGC 374 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 232 million light years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years in diameter. Together with 21 other galaxies, it is a member of the NGC 452 group ( LGG 18 ).
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 379 , NGC 380 , NGC 383 , IC 1619 .

The object was discovered on October 7, 1861 by the German-Danish astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest .
