NGC 396 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 73 and IC 74 .
The object was discovered on October 27, 1864 by the German astronomer Albert Marth .
