NGC 392 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 217 million light years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years across.
Together with NGC 394 and NGC 397 , it forms the isolated galaxy trio KTG 3 . It is a member of the NGC 452 group ( LGG 18 ) with 21 other galaxies .

The object was discovered on September 12, 1784 by the German-British astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel .
