NGC 415 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Sculptor in the southern sky . It is an estimated 288 million light years from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 409 .
The object was discovered on September 1, 1834 by the British astronomer John Herschel .
