NGC 429 is a lenticular galaxy of Hubble type S0 in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 254 million light years from the Milky Way and about 105,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 426 , NGC 430 , IC 1640 , IC 1643 .

The object was discovered on December 20, 1786 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
