NGC 441 is a lenticular galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SB0 / a in the Sculptor constellation in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 250 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 105,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 427 , NGC 439 , IC 1657 , IC 1663 .
The object was discovered on September 27, 1834 by the British astronomer John Herschel .
