NGC 451 = IC 1661 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sc in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 225 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 45,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 443 , NGC 447 , NGC 449 , IC 1648 , among others .
The object was discovered on November 10, 1881 by the French astronomer Édouard Jean-Marie Stephan .
