IC 1647 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Andromeda on the northern sky . It is estimated to be 286 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 60,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky is the galaxy NGC 425 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on November 12, 1903 .
