IC 1633 is an elliptical cD galaxy of the Hubble type E1 in the constellation Phoenix in the southern sky . It is an estimated 322 million light years from the Milky Way and about 250,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 1627 , IC 1630 , IC 1631 .
The object was discovered on August 5, 1826 by the astronomer James Dunlop .
