IC 1616 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Sculptor in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 251 million light years from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on May 24, 1897 .
