IC 1636 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 261 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 25,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 407 , NGC 410 , NGC 414 , IC 1638 , among others .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on October 17, 1903 .
