NGC 410 is an active cD galaxy with extended star formation from the Hubble type E in the constellation fish on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 243 million light years from the Milky Way and about 170,000 light years across. Together with 21 other galaxies, it is a member of the NGC 452 group ( LGG 18 ).
The galaxies NGC 407 , NGC 414 , IC 1636 , IC 1638 are located in the same area of the sky .
The Type Ia supernova SN 1995Y was observed here.
The object was discovered on September 12, 1784 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
