NGC 423 is a lenticular dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Sculptor in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 70 million light years from the Milky Way and about 20,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered on November 14, 1835 by the British astronomer John Herschel .
