NGC 443 = IC 1653 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type S in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 220 million light years from the Milky Way and about 50,000 light years in diameter. Together with 21 other galaxies, it is a member of the NGC 452 group ( LGG 18 ).
The galaxies NGC 447 , NGC 449 , NGC 451 , IC 1648 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on October 8, 1861 by Heinrich Ludwig d'Arrest .
