NGC 461 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Sculptor in the southern sky . It is an estimated 252 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years across.
The object was discovered on September 25, 1834 by the British astronomer John Herschel .
