NGC 477 is a bar-spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Andromeda in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 270 million light years from the Milky Way and about 115,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on October 18, 1786 .
