NGC 476 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 285 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 40,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 463 and NGC 473 , among others .
The Type Ia supernova SN 2002jy was observed here.
The object was discovered on November 3, 1864 by the German astronomer Albert Marth .
