NGC 484 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Toucan on southern sky . It is an estimated 223 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 130,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is part of the 10-member NGC 434 group ( LGG 19 ).
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 466 .
The object was discovered on October 28, 1834 by the British astronomer John Herschel .
