NGC 504 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 195 million light years from the Milky Way and about 95,000 light years in diameter. Together with five other galaxies, it forms the NGC 499 group ( LGG 24 ).
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 507 , NGC 508 , IC 1685 , IC 1687 .
The object was discovered on November 22, 1827 by the British astronomer John Herschel .
