IC 1687 is a compact, elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type C / E3 in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 231 million light years from the Milky Way and about 35,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 503 , NGC 504 , NGC 507 , NGC 508 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 1, 1899 .
